East Point Lighthouse NJ

The East Point Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse in New Jersey. It's located on the eastern shore of Maurice River Cove.

Built in 1849, the lighthouse is the only onshore lighthouse on the Delaware Bay.

The Lighthouse is in Heislerville, Cumberland County NJ.

It was formerly named Maurice Lighthouse. Locals pronounce Maurice as MOR-iss.

Nearby

There's a sandy beach

And marshes where you see Ospreys and other birds.

Parvin State Park New Jersey

Parvin State Park is between Vineland and Bridgeton New Jersey. It has miles of trails and a nice sized lake with a small beach.

A Vintage Post Card. I used to visit the park a lot during my childhood in New Jersey.

Atlantic City New Jersey

I've visited Atlantic City many times since my childhood years in South Jersey. It's famous of course for the casinos and the boardwalk with many piers supporting amusement rides and shops.

The Atlantic City Beach is wide and inviting.

Food is part of the cultural experience. My faves are fresh fish n chips, pizza, and Jersey versions of Cheesesteaks.

Enjoy the wave action in this video from September 2017.

Ocean City New Jersey

Ocean City Beach 2015

Ocean City New Jersey is the place I most frequented growing up in South Jersey. Since then I and my family have returned many times despite living a thousand or more miles away.

The boardwalk is family friendly and as of 2021, there are no casinos like in Atlantic City, a few miles to the north.

My wife loves caramel corn, which means Johnson's discount when you bring your tub back for a refill. They've been here since 1940.

I can't resist a slice of Jersey Pizza on any of the boardwalks.

And of course, there are places to get salt water taffy or...

some chocolate...

And who could resist frozen custard?

Evenings are magical too

If you love the ocean waves, here's a video.

Cape May New Jersey

Cape May New Jersey claims to be the nation's oldest Seaside resort.

I've been there many times over the years--I lived in South Jersey for 14 years and I go back to the Jersey Shore from time to time.

There's a promenade along the beach. Opposite are shops, restaurants, and Victorian style B&Bs. I took this video 10 June 2021.

The beach is fine; however, I usually go to Ocean City for my back to the beach time.

Not far from the beach is Cape May Point State Park. There's an old lighthouse you can climb.

Opposite the lighthouse is a wildlife refuge and boardwalk trails.

Just north of the beach area is a small town. In the summers, the shops can be crowded.

One activity I've done a few times is ride the ferry from Cape May across the bay to Delaware. It's a quite and relaxing low cost ride.

Notes
Cape May and the nearby towns are worth visiting if you are in the area.
There were clean toilets for visitors when we were there in June 2021.
Lodging can be expensive but for some, the unique architecture may be worth it.
You'll find better prices on seafood and NJ subs in town away from the tourist areas. There is an exception. One family favorite is Uncle Bills Pancake House. I don't get paid for this. Here's the 2021 lunch menu.
