Cape May New Jersey

Cape May New Jersey claims to be the nation's oldest Seaside resort.

I've been there many times over the years--I lived in South Jersey for 14 years and I go back to the Jersey Shore from time to time.

There's a promenade along the beach. Opposite are shops, restaurants, and Victorian style B&Bs. I took this video 10 June 2021.

The beach is fine; however, I usually go to Ocean City for my back to the beach time.

Not far from the beach is Cape May Point State Park. There's an old lighthouse you can climb.

Opposite the lighthouse is a wildlife refuge and boardwalk trails.

Just north of the beach area is a small town. In the summers, the shops can be crowded.

One activity I've done a few times is ride the ferry from Cape May across the bay to Delaware. It's a quite and relaxing low cost ride.

Notes

Cape May and the nearby towns are worth visiting if you are in the area.

There were clean toilets for visitors when we were there in June 2021.

Lodging can be expensive but for some, the unique architecture may be worth it.

You'll find better prices on seafood and NJ subs in town away from the tourist areas. There is an exception. One family favorite is Uncle Bills Pancake House. I don't get paid for this. Here's the 2021 lunch menu.

Virginia Beach, Virginia USA

We visited Virginia Beach in early October 2020 because I was feeling a bit desperate for the Atlantic Ocean having spent the first 20 years of my life on both sides of the Atlantic. The Covid-19 restrictions did not affect us on the beach or in the area. We had a nice room facing the ocean at the Holiday Inn Express.

In addition to walking along the beach and enjoying the warm water, there was some action near our hotel.

There's a variety of art works along the "boardwalk." The quotes are needed because, unlike New Jersey, the walkway is cement rather than boards. The photos were taken with our Pixel phones.

I took a few videos and posted them on my YouTube channel. The videos were also taken with my Pixel Phone- handheld.

From a certain angle in our hotel, you can just see the ocean, which made us feel like we were on a cruise--cruises were cancelled this year due to the Covid virus.
