A World Class Adventure on Three Floors
Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany
Beginning: The Third Floor
I began my tour on the third floor and didn’t bother with the audio guide or a guided tour. I was immediately amazed by the quality of the scenes—clearly the largest and best miniature villages and cities I have ever seen (I’ve seen several in Europe and the US). The detail in the human figures and scenes of everyday life is remarkably realistic. The technology supports the presentation rather than drawing attention to itself, yet it is genuinely impressive.
Of course, the many locomotives and wagons deserve close inspection, especially as they flawlessly navigate such complex layouts.
In addition, the electronic vehicle system adds considerable realism to the streets and highways, not to mention other modes of transport such as ski lifts, hot air balloons, boats, and jet planes taking off and landing.

Moving Up: Fourth Floor
Later in the day, I reached the fourth floor, where you can both admire the detail of the large scenes viewed from above on the third floor and explore additional layouts representing places such as the western United States and Sweden.
