I was visiting Newcastle for a week, having never stayed in this part of Britain before. I'd heard of the beauty of the coast --especially Whitley Bay. So, I hopped on the Metro in New Castle and headed for the seaside.

The signs looked exciting and I was looking forward to strolling along the promenade on a sunny day.

Alas, in the Spring of 2025, Whitley Bay was blocked by a construction fence. I kept walking -- hoping for an end to the incarcerated scenery.

Finally, further south, the beauty of Cullercoats Bay was fully visible.
